Anthony Posa was 'born' into rugby quite literally as he was the son of well known Auckland no.8 Joe Posa. Back in the amateur day, with his mother working, he was taken to massive rugby games (for example against the British & Irish Lions of 1971) with his father as a baby. So he was always destined it seems to be in a rugby environment. After attending one of the most successful rugby schools in New Zealand in Auckland Grammar, Anthony represented the Auckland province at various levels before getting the chance to travel the globe playing in countries such as Italy, Japan and the land of his grandparents - Croatia. Due to this ancestry, Anthony played for the Croatian National team over 50 times, including numerous World Cup Qualifiers, as well as playing in the 2000 & 2001 World Series 7s.

From Croatia, Anthony ended up playing semi professionally in Scotland for the GHA club, where he met his Scottish wife. 19 odd years and 3 children later, Anthony has progressed from senior player to player coach, to head coach and so on; with perhaps unprecedented success. He took Beverley from Yorkshire 2 to National 2 with four successive promotions. Doncaster Phoenix went from Yorkshire 1 to National 3 with back to back promotions. Created the Doncaster Knights Academy (alongside the local college/university), where local talent could study and play rugby 'full time' - again with successive promotions in the BUCS league. The success has not been confined to Club level, with his National County Championships with the Yorkshire Under 20s now numbering eight, including the last five years in a row - as well as Coaching internationally with Croatia whenever his club commitments allow.
